Our school day begins at 8.30am with ‘trickling in’, whereby children can come into their classrooms and start their learning. Although the register is not taken until 8.50am, it is an opportunity for the children to come in calmly and utilise the time with their class teacher and peers. A range of ‘start of the day’ (SODA) activities will be completed, including reading, basic maths skills and working in small groups with an adult.
During the morning session, most classes will have a Maths and English lesson and children will often attend assembly. They will have a daily playtime of 15 minutes; children are encouraged to bring a healthy snack or they can purchase a piece of toast.
Lunchtime begins at 11.30am for EYFS children, 11.45am for KS1, 12.00 for Lower Key Stage 2 and 12.15pm for Upper Key Stage 2. All children will eat in our large dinner hall and then enjoy playtime activities outside. The playground is split into zones where the equipment is managed and games are led by our team of playground buddies.
During the afternoon sessions, children will enjoy a range of other lessons and KS1 children will have a short afternoon break and snack time.
The afternoon session finishes at 3.00pm for EYFS children, 3.05pm for KS1 and 3.10pm for KS2. Parents/carers can collect their children from the playground. Please let the school office or class teacher know if your child is being collected by by another adult. If a sibling is collecting, they must be aged 16 or older.
Year Six children may walk home alone if we have Parents' permission.
