Our
School Day
Our school day begins at 8.45am with ‘trickling in’, whereby children can come into their classrooms and start their learning. Although the register is not taken until 9.00am, it is an opportunity for the children to come in calmly and utilise the time with their class teacher and peers. A range of ‘start of the day’ activities will be completed, including reading, basic maths skills and working in small groups with an adult. A bagel will be provided to all children on arrival into school. Edgar Stammers is proud to be in partnership with Magic Breakfast, providing healthy breakfasts to our pupils so that they are settled and ready to learn. Magic Breakfast provides Edgar Stammers with nutritious breakfast food to ensure children start their school day in the best possible way. Breakfast gives children the energy needed for the busy school morning, enabling them to focus on their lessons.
During the morning session, most classes will have a Maths and English lesson and children will often attend assembly. They will have a daily playtime of 15 minutes; children are encouraged to bring a healthy snack or school will provide them with a piece of fruit.
Lunchtime begins at 11.45am for EYFS children, 12.00am for KS1, 12.15 for Lower Key Stage 2 and 12.45pm for Upper Key Stage 2. Due to COVID restrictions, all children eat in their classrooms and then enjoy playtime activities outside. Although the playground is usually split into zones where the equipment is managed and games are led by our team of playground buddies, this currenly not able to happen due to COVID restrictions.
During the afternoon sessions, children will enjoy a range of lessons covering all areas of the National Curriculum.
The afternoon session finishes at 3.05pm for EYFS and KS1, and 3.10pm for KS2. Parents/carers can collect their children from the playground. Please let the school office or class teacher know if your child is being collected by by another adult. If a sibling is collecting, they must be aged 16 or older.
Year Six children may walk home alone if we have parents' permission.
