Understanding Video Game Lootboxes & Skin Betting

< Back to the news

Loot boxes are a great way for children to make in-app purchases which can enhance their gaming experience. ‘Skins’ are items which change a character’s appearance, but which can be traded and used as a gambling currency. Children love them both but what are the dangers parents and carers should be aware of? Are they addictive? Can they be controlled? Find out with this new guide.

Created by Andy Robertson, an expert on healthy play for kids, this guide looks at the main things that parents and carers need to know about loot boxes and skin betting. The guide covers everything from providing useful tips on setting up safe controls to understanding how these in-app purchases work.
