A Message From
Welcome to Our Academy.

To all Parents, Carers and pupils of Edgar Stammers Primary Academy,
At this moment, we cannot answer all of your questions or fears about when, or whether, your child/ren will come back to school before the Summer holidays. As a parent of a primary age child, I understand and share your feelings: frustrated about the uncertainty, worried about the happiness and wellbeing of our children, mixed feelings about deciding whether to send your children back and the risks to them and you as parents because of it. These fears can only be allayed with more information, and I feel it is important to keep you as informed as possible about preparations and arrangements for their eventual return to school.
The first piece of information we can pass on to you is that we will not be open for all children on 1st June, but will start a staggered re-entry for EYFS, Year 1 and Year 6, who will come back to school over that week from June 2nd. This is a massive undertaking and the health and safety of the whole school community is our number one concern. It is likely that that there will be different arrangements for the children’s entry into school, as well as staggered start and finishing times, with restricted access to parents onto the school grounds. I know some of the arrangements will be unpopular and cause some disruption to parents, but we must ensure the safety of everyone. In addition, we are awaiting further government guidance about whether it may be part-time hours for the children.
Secondly, we have decided that all children will work in phases with adults and classrooms that they know. The phases will be Early Years, Years 1+2, 3+4 and then Years 5+6. The children will remain in these phases all day without exception. We will not have any assemblies, children will eat in these phases at lunchtime, and will play out just with children from their own phase. At the moment we hope that children will be in groups of 1 to 10 maximum. This is where we need your help to plan.
Could you let us know through Dojo or the firstname.lastname@example.org if you plan to:
- definitely send your children back to school
- if you are shielding or have decided to definitely not to send your children back (The government have indicated there are no fines or consequences for not attending)
- if you would like more information from your class teacher or from myself (Mr Mann)
If you could do this by Monday 18th May, this will help us prepare. Please do not ring school, as we have limited office staff in school. Please also remember this is a personal decision for you and your family, and we will support you whatever your decision. This is too important a decision for any of us to get wrong.
